Thamel : tourist spot

Thamel area has recently emerged as the most popular tourist area of Kathmandu. Thamel is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the center of Kathmandu. Thamel has clean narrow streets full of mushrooming lodges, hotels for budget travellers. Restaurants, bars and other tourists oriented shops can be seen bustling with activities. It is a popular tourist district within the capital district of kathmandu. It comprises of 5-7 main street street and many more smaller one that criss cross the area. Most of the first time visitor of Nepal will usually end up in Thamel after leaving the airport by taxi. Accommodation is easily found around in Thamel and if not, there are plenty of agent around to show you one. 
 It lies in the center of Kathmandu and is one of the oldest area in capital which is also known as Tabitha Bahal. bThe oldest building throughout Thamel are designed in Newari style (the first traditional inhabitants in kathmandu valley).  It is filled with tour agent, trekking guides, trekking stores, clothing, restaurants, cafes and bars all catering to the country's number one industry: tourism.  Thamel can be difficult to understand when you first arrive. There are no street names in signpost in general. it can be best thought as a mass of unorganized street. There is no real boundary of Thamel as such but knowing its center is best way not to get lost. 

It is one of the best place for knowing about every tourism product that one can imagine in Nepal. Its a maze of side street filled with wonderful stall selling everything one can imagine in Nepal. some of the famous stall are books stall, trekking stores, bars, coffee and cafe,courier and exporter, and so on.
